Don't forget to create a backup before resetting, losing or breaking your phone. Suitable apps are OTP auth (iOS) or andOTP (Android) (I do personally use and can recommend these two, but of course there are some other good apps as well). If you restore your iPhone from backup, the Google Authenticator app will be blank. Across all of your online accounts, signing in is the front door to your personal information. Google Authenticator does not save your settings, configured sites or whatsoever in the iTunes backup. Use another device to take pictures of each QR code (because the app won’t let you screenshot these). Select any accounts that you want to back up with a QR code and tap Next. Select Transfer accounts and then tap Export accounts. Use a TOTP app which allows you to backup a copy of your TOTP registrations (should be encrypted and password protected for obvious reasons). We are excited to announce an update to Google Authenticator, across both iOS and Android, which adds the ability to safely backup your one-time codes (also known as one-time passwords or OTPs) to your Google Account. Open Google Authenticator and tap the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner.Always register at least two devices for redundancy (with TOTP, you can do this easily by just scanning the same QR code on any number of devices).
